Are you a young writer with a story to tell? Fremont Family YMCA is launching its first ever Youth Writing Club for Ages 8 to 17 this summer!

Instructed by experienced writers and creative group leaders, this program will help youth gain confidence in their voice by exploring story prompts, developing creative skills, and sharing their work in a welcoming and encouraging environment.

All skill levels welcome. We’re excited to explore poetry, fiction & non-fiction prose, playwriting, screenwriting, graphic/comic design, and whatever your imagination can create!

Registration: March 16th to May 27th.

Schedule: Mondays @ 10am-11am | June 1-July 20

Each week will alternate between Writing Lessons & Group Writing Hours

• Writing Lesson & Group Table Reads: 20-minute discussion about writing skills, followed by 40-minute table read of participant work.

• Group Writing Hour: Creative time & focused environment dedicated for youth to work on projects, ask instructors for help.

Step into our new summer program. This is a program for any skill level. We will be hosting matches throughout the summer to help you continue to build your chess skills. 

This program is in part due to the Fremont ChessFest, who helped our instructors gain confidence in teaching and playing chess. The program will run for 4 weeks starting July 9 -July 30.
